Notions of Synthetic Life is the 8th album by UK Musician & Artist Shem Booth-Spain. Recorded between 2016-2018 the concept album is rich in synthesizer sounds and songwriting narrative that touches Cyberpunk Tech Noir, Futuristic Sci Fi, AI, The Technological Singularity, Blockchain and Space. Borrowing its soundtrack acoustic pallet from EDM, Ambient Electronic, Retrowave, Synthpop, 80's Retro and Electropop.

Set in the distant future, covering subjects ranging from AI, Synthetic Life, Cybernetic Life and the very notion of being human in itself, against the futuristic backdrop of a dystopian or Utopian future where does this singularity in technological progression lead humanity? How as a species do we draw context from the human condition in the face of synthetic transhumanism or alien life?

Across sonic electronic blade runner -esque soundscapes and cinematic build ups Notions of Synthetic life is a multi genre journey across the future asking important ethical questions on and collective and individual basis.

The recording process of the album and has been intense, scientific in splicing, morphing and building sequences of classic synth and cz-80 retro arpeggiators fused with rock guitar soloing and warm emotive vocal lines. Listeners of classic rock will hear well built songs, lovers of EDM will get nostalgic at the soundscape influences from the 80's onwards. Yet somewhere among all of this is a darksynth looming dystopian industrial NIN level style of production and intensity to detail balanced with heavnly sonic acents and angelic epiphany hybrid sci fi build ups for the listener journey.
